DOLLS FROM MY LITTLE BLUE STUDIO IN THE MISSOURI OZARKS

MY DOLLS ARE MADE IN A "FOURTH DIMENSION" WHICH MEANS THREE DIMENSIONAL WITH THE FOURTH DIMENSION BEING....EMOTION!

MY DOLLS ARE NOT JUST PORCELAIN MANNEQUINS WEARING DESIGNER CLOTHES.  I CREATE EACH DOLL TO BE AN INDIVIDUAL "PERSON"  SHOWING A PARTICULAR EMOTION.  THIS IS DONE BY THE WAY THE HEAD IS POSITIONED TO SHOW "ATTITUDE" AND BY THE WAY THE EYES AND MOUTH ARE PAINTED TO SHOW EMOTION.

My porcelain dollhouse/miniature dolls are made entirely by me.  The process starts by pouring liquid porcelain slip into either a purchased mold or a mold made by me from my original sculpture.

Once the greenware has cured, been fired in a kiln, it is china painted, and fired again, usually many many times.  I have developed a technique for painting and firing the eyes that makes them look absolutely real (and hard to photograph).  After the final firing, the head, torso, arms and legs are assembled usually by the "pipe cleaner" method.  This means the doll can usually be gently posed.

THE COSTUMES
Most of my dolls are dressed in historically accurate costumes.  I have a huge library of reference books and before beginning a new doll I spend hours, sometimes days, researching the period she will be representing for both the costume, hairstyle and jewelry.

I use only the finest fabrics, either silk, cotton, wool or linen, often vintage or antique.  I use many different types of laces and trims, always in scale and usually vintage or antique.  I'm also a stickler for matching and combining colors and will often dye fabric or trim if I need to.

Most of my costumes are elaborately embellished with beads, rinestones, pearls, etc.  These are ALWAYS   sewn onto the costume.  The costume itself is always sewn exactly like it would be if it were being made for a human person.  The only difference is it cannot be removed once it is sewn onto the doll.

I never make the same doll twice.  Couldn't even if I wanted to!  Therefore, I do not do custom work and I don't reproduce the same doll in a different color.

I hope you enjoy viewing my dolls, both in the Gallery of Sold dolls and the dolls currently for sale.  I also sell my dolls on EBAY under the name of little_bluestudio.

Thanks for Looking,
